Service Description

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small, sterile needles to prick the skin. This helps generate new collagen and skin tissue to the treated areas. It is FDA approved to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles as well as acne scars. The entire procedure takes about one hour, and is typically done once a month for 4-6 months. The treated areas are numbed first with topical cream to allow for comfort. Afterwards, your skin may feel raw and dry (similar to how a bad sunburn feels). Redness and pinpoint bleeding are typical following the procedure, but should resolve within 72 hours. It is important that you keep your skin hydrated by moisturizing it, as well as protecting it from damage by staying out of the sun and wearing sunscreen. You may notice your skin starting to peel around post-op day 3. This is a normal response to the procedure and you should avoid picking at the skin. You should avoid microneedling if any of the following apply to you: blood clotting disorder, taking anticoagulants, pregnant or nursing, currently taking Accutane or stopped within the last six months, currently on chemotherapy/radiation, allergy to topical anesthetic s or stainless steel, Botox in the last two weeks, or dermal fillers in the last four weeks.
